Last February, Facebook welcomed its 200 millionth user. The success of Facebook has left other social networking websites like MySpace, hi5, Orkut, LinkedIn and Friendster out in the dust. The primary concern over Facebook is that it has become open to everybody. Facebook used to cater to college students with a .edu email address. This limited the population of Facebook to college and high school students. A very good alternative would be USpot.

USpot, like the old Facebook, targets college and high school students and is initially available to those with a .edu email address. The site features video embedding services just like YouTube and features cool applications like mp3 players and photo hosting capabilities where you can rate photos of friends and post comments. You can also add a podcast directory and integrate Google maps on to your profile.

According to users of the website, Campusbug is 'MySpace meets Blackboard.' It is a social networking website that targets students but offers more than your average social networking websites. CampusBug describes itself as the first social learning network where students are provided educational and social networking tools. CampusBug offers services that enable users to study, learn, pass exams and get into college while having fun and staying connected to friends. Users and members can interact with each other by posting flashcards, questions and answering essays.

The battle to topple Facebook is like a battle between David and Goliath. With Facebook getting funds from Internet giant, Yahoo!, only time will tell whether social networking websites like USpot and CampusBug can catch up to the phenomenal rise of Facebook.
