River Plate Fulfillment and Trucking

Latino Inventors.

Riverplate is bringing you this series of pages on the theme Latinos as a service to our diverse clientele whom we have the honor to serve. We understand the power understanding our roots. It helps us as a people, and ultimately, as a business.

The services we provide (Pick and Pack in Southern California, Nationwide Trucking, and fulfillment in California...to name a few) could not be done without our loyal customers. It is because of them that Riverplate continues to grow year after year. Our goal is 100% satisfaction on the work and service we provide to all of our customers.

The owner of Riverplate, Daniela Rodriguez, is a very smart Latino businesswoman from Argentina. And since her roots partly define who she is, Ms. Rodriguez felt it was important to share this series of pages dedicated to the Latina community.

Latino Inventors / Uncovering the Mystery

You know how important inventions are to our world. Without the telephone or the computer, we would have trouble communicating with each other from a distance. And without the light bulb, we would have a hard time reading our favorite book as we drifted off to sleep.

While you may be familiar with these inventions, you may not know the inventors. This is because the story of Latino inventors is a story of great achievement but little recognition.

Here are some of the most brilliant Latino Inventors the world has known:

Luis Miramontes
Chemist, Luis Miramontes, co-invented the contraceptive pill.

Victor Celorio
Victor Celorio patented the Insta Book Maker, a technology supporting e-book distribution by quickly and elegantly printing an offline copy.

Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena
Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena invented an early color television system. He developed and patented a Trichromatic Sequential Fields System from primary colors, which could be adapted to the black and white system.

Victor Ochoa
Victor Ochoa was the Mexican American inventor of the Ochoaplane (a small flying machine with collapsible wings). And he was the inventor of a windmill, magnet brakes, a wrench and a reversible motor. His best invention, the ochoplane was a small flying machine with collapsible wings.

Felipe Vadillo
Mexican inventor Felipe Vadillo patented a method of predicting premature fetal membrane rupture in pregnant women.

Luis Federico Leloir
Luis F. Leloir was awarded the Nobel Prize for his discovery of sugar nucleotides and their role in the biosynthesis of carbohydrates.

Miguel Servet
Michael Servetus' work in anatomy and physiology led him to the discovery of the circulation of blood through the human body.

Carlos Finaly / Cuba
Dr. Carlos Finlay became famous for his work in identifying the mosquito as a carrier of the deadly yellow fever germ.

Ceasar Milstein / Argentina
Ceasar Milstein with his co-laureate Geores J. F. Koehler Milstein developed the techniques for producing monoclonal antibodies. These are antibodies with a specific affinity for certain sites in the body that might find diseased cells but leave healthy cells intact.

Severo Ochoa de Alborno / Spain
Severo Ochoa de Alborno's research on high-energy phosphates and their role in the body's energy processes resulted in the discovery and application of the enzyme polynucleotide phosphorilase, which catalyzes the synthesis of RNA. Albornoz Severo Ochoa shared the Nobel Prize for "his contributions to the discovery of the mechanisms in the biological synthesis of ribonucleic acid and deoxyribonucleic acid."

Santiago Ramón y Cajal
Santiago Ramon Y Cajal was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work on the structure of the nervous system.
