Riverplate is bringing you this series of pages on the theme Latinos as a service to our diverse clientele whom we have the honor to serve. We understand the power understanding our roots. It helps us as a people, and ultimately, as a business.

The services we provide (Pick and Pack in Southern California, Nationwide Trucking, and fulfillment in California...to name a few) could not be done without our loyal customers. It is because of them that Riverplate continues to grow year after year. Our goal is 100% satisfaction on the work and service we provide to all of our customers.

The owner of Riverplate, Daniela Rodriguez, is a very smart Latino businesswoman from Argentina. And since her roots partly define who she is, Ms. Rodriguez felt it was important to share this series of pages dedicated to the Latina community.

Latino Pride / Diversity Unites

Hispanics proudly displayed beautiful costumes, music and culture in the Hispanic Day Parade. No longer are Latinos confined to certain neighborhoods of the city or particular regions of the country. Hispanics came from all over to march in the parade. And no longer do we hail from just a few countries or regions of the world. Today Latinos come from throughout the Caribbean, Latin America and Spain and live in cities and towns throughout the U.S.

Of the 281.4 million people who live in the U.S., 13 percent are Latino. That's 35.3 million people.

By the year 2050, Hispanics will make up 25 percent of population of this nation.

The indigenous people (who were the original inhabitants of our countries) - the Incas, Mayans, and Aztecs - had rich cultures that pre-date the arrival of Columbus in the late 15th century. With Columbus came the Spanish language and culture, and Catholicism. Today it is all part of the Hispanic heritage.

Latino Pride / Latino Heritage Month

From September 15 to October 15, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month - celebrating our people and our cultures. And we celebrate the contributions that we have made and will continue to make in politics, business, education, culture and the arts - throughout the Latino pride that we live.

Some may wonder if young people are willing to do the research about their cultural background. The younger generation may not think it's hip, or that somehow it is politically incorrect. However, the collective consciousness of their environment may outweigh their instincts. Peer pressure will always be a challenge for youth, but it is most certainly compounded when dealing with children who are seen as different in any way.

Latino Pride / Being Different

No group of people should be devalued or belittled by another group. There are far more similarities then differences, and so it is sad when people of a different background stay divided and stuck in this nightmare called prejudice. Another's normality can often be our nightmare because the majority can't see the value of unity and support outside of their own tribe.

We all should be pushing toward being the most loving humans we can be regardless of our cultural backgrounds. This is not to say that we should not study and learn as much as we can about out roots. But the concept of hate, which is really just intensified fear, should be allowed to dissipate and blow away, because ultimately...we are all family.
