However, to qualify for most of these scholarships, the students are required to show strong commitment towards their community and education. Providing such community oriented scholarships is a positive approach to attract the students and youth to participate in the community services enabling more and more young people to strengthen their leadership and character-building qualities.

Scholarships for Community Service / Scholarships for Students from all Backgrounds

Bonner Scholarships
Bonner scholarships are awarded to 1500 students in 27 different colleges and universities all around America. The program is conducted to promote community services among the students while providing support for a four-year education and improved community services opportunities.

Discover
These scholarships provide a hefty amount of $30,000 to each of the 10 qualifiers. The basic criteria to apply for Discover scholarship is high commitment towards studies and the community.

Scholarships from Alliant Energy
Up to 25, $1000 scholarships are awarded each year to students on the basis of educational record, involvement in a leadership role in the community services and volunteer work.

Austin PEAY State University Scholarship
The APSU scholarship award of $250 is awarded every year to a student, who needs financial assistance. But to be eligible for this award, one should be participating in the community welfare projects and have a CGPA of 3.0.

Toyota Community Scholarships
The Toyota Company awards 100 scholarships for higher education every year to candidates who have been highly active in community service. The value of the Toyota scholarships range from $10,000 - $20,000, over the course of four years.

The Presidential Freedom Scholarship Program
The Presidential Freedom Scholarship Program is conducted every year by the Corporation for National and Community Service. The program is designed to award scholarships to students who have been consistently participating in their community and volunteering services.

Scholarships for Community Service / Scholarships for Hispanics & Latinos

ACS Scholars Program
ACS Scholars Program gives an award of $5,000 to students from minority groups (i.e. Hispanics, Latinos, African-American or American-Indian), on the basis of their academic performance, community involvement, objectives and leadership skills.

MAES Scholarships Program for Hispanics
The basic purpose of this scholarship program is to help the deserving Hispanic students to achieve their higher education goals. MAES gives priority to students on the basis of their academic achievements, financial circumstances, leadership traits, and participation in community service.

CHCI Scholarship Program for Latinos
Students with excellent leadership potential and community involvement are encouraged to apply for CHCI scholarships, without any requirement of a certain fixed GPA. These one-time scholarships are intended to assist the Latino students with the cost of their housing, textbooks, tuition and other expenses associated with their enrolment in higher education programs.
