A fundraising event for a cause is always a worthwhile endeavor. Holding a successful fundraising event will not only make you feel good but it will go a long way to accomplishing the goals that you have set for your cause. The success of an event will provide a much needed influx of money for the group and this cash will open a lot doors that lead to the fruition of your mission.

Lessons can be learned regarding how best to go about organizing a fundraising event by studying the more successful events. Some of the events featured on this page are continuing and ongoing and others are one time only events. What determines a successful event? In a nutshell, if you raise a lot of money you have put an a successful event. The following is a list of some of the most successful fundraising events:

The American Cancer Society (Relay for Life) - Relay For Life garnered 375 million dollars. This event is the signature activity of the American Cancer Society. All individuals in the community have the chance and indeed are encouraged to participate. Teams of people from a wide range of backgrounds and from all walks of life have fun and raise sorely needed resources to raise awareness of cancer and cancer treatment.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (Team in Training) – Team in Training raised 114 million dollars. This is the world’s first and largest charity training program. TNT offers a full complement of training options. This program has grown and is now unparalleled as a charity sports training program.

March of Dimes (WalkAmerica) - Walk America takes third place by raising 110 million dollars. This program started in 1970 and has since become one of the country’s favorite walking events. The money raised is used to support programs to help mothers have healthy, full-term pregnancies. It also funds research to find solutions for the problems that threaten babies.

American Heart Association (Heart Walk) – The Heart Walk raised 90 million dollars. The country’s no.1 and no.3 killers are heart disease and stroke respectively and the money this event raised will be used to save lives from those two top killers in the US. This activity is designed to promote a physical and heart healthy activity in a fun environment.
