What is FaceBook / The History

FaceBook.com is a social networking website based in Palo Alto, California. It was created by Mark Zuckerberg while he was a sophomore at Harvard University in 2003 in order to keep himself occupied and stop thinking about a girl. Originally, FaceBook was intended to help Harvard students communicate with each other.

In time Zuckerberg and co-founder Chris Hughes decided to include other Boston schools like Boston University and the Ivy League schools. Later on Standford, Yale and Columbia joined FaceBook. Its founders decided to further expand their network and included the high school demographics. And so the FaceBook that we know today came to being.
